TET's conditions and types of meetings

Conditions to be part of the TET (an open group):

  • Talk in English in the main TET's, once a month (if you don't know English, you can always learn and improve it during TET)
  • Discuss a specific theme
  • Let the kitchen clean
  • Try to "work" for the community (to improve Portugal)

We should write e-mails in English, to practice more and maintain the spirit! Of course I'm talking about e-mails related to TET meetings.

Types of TET meetings:

1. TET official meeting, once a month, normally associated with a meal, where we speak in English and discuss a specific theme.

2. TET cultural meeting, between official TET meetings, where we speak in Portuguese and see an exposition, go to the theatre, cinema, or other things. In the end we discuss about what we saw or simply we have a nice conversation about what we want, it's more informal.

All these meetings are suggested by each person (place, time, theme, ...).

5th TET - European Union: rebuilding, remodeling, reajusting?...

Outside Granjinhos coffee/bar, after a great but not yet finished discussion!
We learn with each other, with each one knowledge, point of view and opinion.
It was an open mind discussion and I think we return home richer, like always in a TET!

4th TET

It was in Palácio do Freixo, Oporto, that happened the 4th TET. A very enthusiastic meeting, where we talk about Salvador Dali and many other things, in front of Douro's river!

3rd TET

The 3rd TET had place in Guimarães, with the hosts Vitor Hugo Abreu and Catarina Abreu.
I was able to read some opinions about it:

"TET is the greatest!
Last one, in Guimarães, was really awsome!! Too bad many of you missed it :p
Thank you, Vitor, Nuno and Mariana ;) (specially this last one, Mariana, what an expert tourist guide!).
Guimarães
, no doubt, has it all to be the craddle of our great country! (anyone disagrees?)"
Teresa

"Hi! :)
Hope you are fine. Once again, thank you for everything Mariana, Vitor Hugo and Nuno. [...]
See you soon,"
Cristina
All TETs are different but all are special!
There are no pictures of the 3rd TET , only memories!

Santa Maria da Feira's Medieval Journey

Hi everybody!
Hope you are all doing well, and to improve your August :), I have a suggestion for this Saturday – 11th , which means we must hurry to decide if we want to do it or not...

But, first let me tell you about my suggestion and afterwards will talk about the organization issues.

It has to do with Santa Maria da Feira's Medieval Journey. I'm sure many of you have heard about it or have been there already. It is almost in the end, it closes this weekend. My suggestion is, how about joining to go there this saturday?? I sure would like that!
We could leave braga around 5:30 p.m., in order to get there still in the afternoon. That way we could see what happens in the Termas de S.Jorge, for instance, stroll around, enjoy the atmosphere, see very closelly each and every comercial stand ("banquinhas" ou "tendinhas" in portuguese... get it? ) participate in other activities and, at night, watch the called "Justas Medievais", that is medieval fights...
There are lots of things we can do. Check for your self and be quick to say if you have any interest in joining this plan. The link is:
I know it to be something absolutely worthwhile, specially because the reconstruction of medieval ages are made with such detail that it gets to be a real and very enjoyable journey in the past.
All the best to you all!

TET II (II)

My dear TET members,

What do you think about a second TET meeting on 28th July?
I remember Irene owes us a few words about Alberto Caeiro, right? ;)
I had just read an e-mail from Teresa, a beautiful Fernando Pessoa's text.
So, why don’t we adopt «Fernando Pessoa» as the theme for our TET meeting?
We could talk about his biography, his poems, the heteronymous, his way of seeing life…
I think it would be much related with English language too…
I would like you to share your opinion about it
See you,

Cristina

The citty lights and all of july's night glamour

will iluminate one of the most emblematic concerts of our University Choir (CAUM), of which I'm very proud to be a member!

this is the Vozes sobre a Cidade, the Final Schollar' Year Concert, already a CAUM's tradition, this time with the participation of a Folk Jazz Ensemble (Mónica Jakobsen, Pedro Cravinho, Richard Okkerse, Koen Van Esche). the concert, named "Take a Walk with Me", promises a wonderfull time listening to black spirituals, irish songs and other melodies.

i'm expecting it to be an other magical VSC and it will be a great pleasure sharing that with you, so, do appear! all of you are very wellcome! Sunday, July 22nd, 9 p. m.

I hope seing all there :)

TET II

Dear all,

It is time to initiate the preparation of the following TET.

There are several issues that require to be decided:

  1. The members of the leading group (any voluntaries for this challenge?)
  2. Topics to discuss
  3. Suggestions for novel TET’s layout
  4. Date (14th of July?), etc.

In addition, I would like to incite the exploitation of this blog: this is a great space to trigger the development of our enjoyable movement.

Cheers,
irene

A "classic" suggestion

Hello everyone!
Here is a very good idea to spend a pleasant Sunday evening.
Irene have already informed us about Mimarte. Luís had suggested a classic play - Agamémnon.
It is schedule at Sunday, at 21h45. We could have a coffee together and then see the play.
Tempting, isn't it?

Hoping see you soon,
Cristina

Movies in Porto during July

As I told you in the end of our first dinner, there will be lots of movie sessions in Porto. You can check the programme at http://picasaweb.google.com/erasmus.vitor/CinemaEmJulhoNoPorto

See you around...

Tasteful English Blog

Hi everyone!

From now on this could become our true "mailing list", provided we can write to everybody without forgetting e-mail addresses or feeling the need to open the mailbox just to check what's new from Tasteful English Blog! :P

Let's keep making this incredible idea happen :) After all, what other, if any, purpose does Time grant us than working out things?

Kisses and Hugs,
Vitor Hugo
